I see the opposite a lot more. A weak character is always written as secretly the most badass, not usually in the physical sense but mentally and emotionally and they're always calling out the canonically badass characters on whatever problem the fic writer has with them.

Stop it! Most weak people aren't secretly strong and we don't have to be! We're still worth something even if we're weak through and through.
