Oof I’m sorry, OP :(

I’ve learned two really cool tricks for dealing with trauma. The first is to abandon your current hobbies and entertainment, and devote your time to some throwaway piece of media (match 3 phone games are perfect for this, same with uninteresting old shows that don’t get talked about a lot or a book series that you normally wouldn’t read). As your brain sorts through the event, it will attach it to the media of your choice, like unwittingly happened to you.

The other trick is to stick with your current thing and keep at it nonstop until it passes through the other side of the trauma association and makes its own new associations. This method is more difficult cause it can still stir shit up years later. But if you go back and just power through, you’ll be ok. One way to do that after all this time is force a new association, like maybe watch a streamer play and then set yourself up to mentally compete against them or emulate them.
