I love this show. And honestly I find for both versions of the show, it is so out there and ridiculous that the sorts of things that usually bug me in cop shows don't.

I have had shows like that.

Me: "This is a stupid show and I feel dumber for watching it."

Also me: "And I never miss an episode."

Don't feel bad, it's okay to like stupid stuff sometimes

Both 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star are just soap operas with first responder characters and settings. They have only the barest nod to reality and the thinnest veneer of following protocols and procedures. 9-1-1 did The Poseidon Adeventure and is apparently going to do The Hangover, for Pete's sake. Lonestar has had a solar storm, a volcano, and the FBI involving Owen Strand in a domestic terrorism investigation. I adore their melodrama, even while I am sometimes exasperated by them.

>adore their melodrama, even while I am sometimes exasperated by them.<

And this is exactly how I feel and why I watch!

Nothing against the show but I can't imagine enjoying watching Rob Lowe

His character is the least interesting part of the show and is the focus too much. But everyone else is great and worth watching.

Same, I have no idea why his reputation recovered so thoroughly.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-21 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Because what he did wasn't that bad.

We like it because despite everything it's fun.
