Oh, the interwebs has made everything of that nature more accessible. Also, views have gotten more extreme during that time, thanks to shit like right wing talk radio. I mean, I'm sure there were always folks with those views, but fewer and more out of sight.

But more on topic, it is disappointing to learn that the folks who wrote the music of your childhood/coming of age moment/etc believe something awful, or politicize something that shouldn't be politicized. Obviously, it shouldn't take away from your past experience but it still sucks.
