“Bitter” does not necessarily exclude “shallow as hell.” One of the less bitter spinoffs is relatively deeper: https://www.tumblr.com/prettiestplatypus/746756306933841920/okay-i-know-i-said-i-wouldnt-do-more-but-the but still less deep than the same concept in 2064: Read Only Memories, which was never that deep.

Gave this a look because it sounded interesting and uhh I don't think I get it? I'm assuming it's not SUPPOSED to be anti-trans but it sure is portraying hrt as something that makes you miserable and possibly evil. Like what the fuck is the part where the transformation fucks up personality and memory a metaphor for?

(Also I'm not really seeing the misanthropy. Like, species dysphoria and some edginess sure, but it didn't seem like it was saying anything about humans in general.)

I think messing with personality and memory is part of the fantasy of not being human anymore because humans suck. I haven’t seen any spinoffs use the personality stuff, presumably because those artists don’t feel quite that inhuman.

I didn't really get a misanthropic vibe from it either. I took it as kinda being about the painful side of changing your body in a major way, even if that change is desired, it's still intense to go through. Also just a fantasy/speculative fiction thing about a world where species transformation is possible and wtf that would be like.
