(Anonymous) 2024-04-23 12:01 am (UTC)(link)It depends on what you've been canceled for.
Lizzo's probably not making a comeback. Ukelele Apology chick definitely isn't. And I give Ashton Kutcher a 50/50 chance of being uncancelled. People who straight-up committed SA, hell no. Mike Tyson is still hated to this day, and he went to prison for years.
As I said, it depends on what you've been canceled for.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-23 12:49 am (UTC)(link)Also, if we are including literally going to prison after being convicted of rape in the category of "canceled", then I feel like we are just expanding the category of "canceled" way too far to just mean literally any instance of consequences. And by the same token, if what you mean by saying that you can't come back from being canceled is simply that some people will continue not to like you, that's way too broad of a definition of "coming back". People sometimes not liking you for things you did is just... that's just life, innit?
The idea that criticism, even harsh criticism, even criticism that is thoroughly wrong and invasive and amounts to harassment, is something that it is impossible to come back from in the modern world is just not true. You can have a successful and happy life after that. That's the bottom line here.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-23 12:59 am (UTC)(link)And 2: Your Lizzo comment. It's so incredibly subjective I thought you were doing a bit.
Anyway. Bye.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-23 01:02 am (UTC)(link)"The episode was horrifying! But I still don't think it went hard enough because it implied there was a way back from 'canceling,' which in real life is almost impossible."
I do not understand in what light that statement can be understood as true.
But I hope you have a good rest of your day!

(Anonymous) 2024-04-23 01:06 am (UTC)(link)This. It also depends on how rich, how famous and how socially powerful the cancelled person was to begin with.
DA
(Anonymous) 2024-04-23 03:10 am (UTC)(link)The worst part of saying something stupid on the internet is that most cases I’ve personally witnessed are deep dives into someone’s past. In America, whites only started learning about privilege about ten years ago with many never hearing anything about it until George Floyd was murdered four years ago next month. Our society is undergoing rapid change and the consensus on what is acceptable isn’t carved in stone. There’s also the matter of personal freedom; people can believe whatever they want but their actions are subject to law. This is key when it’s everyday people getting cancelled because they went viral for half a day.
Re: DA
(Anonymous) 2024-04-23 04:54 am (UTC)(link)Except in cases of SA and CSA, the person convicted can serve their whole sentence—get out on parole—and immediately be placed on a registry. At this point, say goodbye to living anywhere except halfway houses and to ever holding a decent job, if any. And if someone decides they don't want them around, a previous victim or loved one of a victim can do anything to the registered SO with near-zero consequences.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-23 10:11 am (UTC)(link)You should ask yourself why you think "believe all women" shouldn't count if the person accused is a fat black woman though.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-23 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)I highly recommend Google as a first step instead of immediately jumping to conclusions and making yourself look stupid.
