Loosely inspired by today's Secret #7.

Can't choose an absolute top, but here are some ones with a great fourth season: Babylon 5, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Next Generation, Stargate: SG1, Criminal Minds, Supernatural, and Doctor Who (okay, New Who specifically, haven't seen fourth season of the original).

I guess I'd say maybe Babylon 5 edges out as the top.

X-Files. The mytharc wasn't entirely stupid yet and the monster of the week episodes were on fire. The fifth season was the best for monster of the week, but the mytharc episodes were getting bad.

Was coming here to say that. 4th season X-Files was solid (although I like the 3rd season just a little bit more).

Actually I prefer both s3 and s1 to s4. But s3 is definitely the cream of the crop.

Yes, S4 Of TXF is my favorite season, for all the reasons already mentioned (and also the one additional very shallow reason that the always-beautiful Gillian Anderson was so fucking beautiful in S4 it was unreal).

I didn't watch TXF as it was coming out in real time, but if I had, that S4 cliff-hanger would have wrecked me, like damn.

Definitely The Wire.

I think Season 4 is most likely best season of The Wire - it's either that or season 3 - which in turn, means that it has a pretty strong argument for being the greatest season of television ever.

Just a fucking phenomenal season. Unbelievably good.

It's such a great show. I should give it a rewatch.

SPN (Castiel appears in S4) and Andromeda (I'm the OP of n7)

Boardwalk Empire, MST3K, Star Trek NG, Frasier, GBBO and Trailer Park Boys all had great 4th seasons. I think Cheers might have too but I haven't seen the 4th season of that for so long I might not be remembering it correctly.

Another vote for TNG. Also Due South.
