I think people forget sometimes that stereotypes exist for a reason. The people on these shows are all people you can run into in real life.

So? Just because something has roots in realism doesn't make it funny or enjoyable.

Sure, but the complaint about both shows is typically that their characters are unrealistic in a negative way due to being "stereotypical" (see above: it's misogyny to have a female character that's gaga over shoes and doesn't understand tech. But women like that exist! My goodness, I had a coworker a few years ago who had something like 300 pairs of shoes, and would spend half her shift shopping online for more). My point is merely that they aren't unrealistic at all, not that that means people should find the shows funny.
