I appreciate this comment more than most of the others in this discussion, because it's honest. I'd rather someone just say what they think than pretend to care about trans people being written "incorrectly" because the only way to make a trans man not actually a woman in your fic is to write him topping with a strap-on (until someone does that, and then suddenly they're "gender essentialist! so just because this character likes to top, they must be a man?! are you saying women can't top?!")

The thing that you don't get is that no, writing a trans man get dicked down in his vagina doesn't make the character less of a man but if 95 % of all trans smut is PIV with the trans dude getting dicked down in his vagina it is kinda iffy and fetishy. Same when only the girly guys get the trans treatment in fandom. And just like very obvious yaoi tropes where the bottom is ALWAYS portrayed as much moe effeminate are kinda iffy and fetishy.
