(Anonymous) 2024-04-27 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)I feel like if an MRA waltzed in and said, "I feel like fics about women being dominant are M/M slash fics in disguise, because it's clearly applying a male way of being to a woman. Women are submissive, and I'd like more fic showing that," you'd all just be like, "welp, he's talking about fic, so there can't be any sexism here."
Re: Based on 7
(Anonymous) 2024-04-27 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)You interpreted that as "Trans men must always" which is objectively not what was said. I hope you're hungry with all that egg on your face.
Re: Based on 7
(Anonymous) 2024-04-28 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)This is exactly it. This is the problem. Every time I see a fic with a trans male character, it always, ALWAYS features them being vaginally penetrated and I'm sick and tired of that. I want to see fics with the trans men getting anal or being the one doing the penetrating for a change.
Re: Based on 7
(Anonymous) 2024-04-27 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)This conversation is to do with the abundance of PIV ftm bottom fics, where the characterization often emphasizes the trans character's submission and vulnerability, and may focus heavily on his femininity as well as on his trans body parts. This is a kink that a lot of people are into, including many trans guys. Many people also find the trope triggering because of its closeness to real life transphobia towards ftms. That taboo element is also part of why people are drawn to it, of course. It's also why it draws criticisms and makes many readers uncomfortable to see the huge trend for these fics.
A better example to fit this thread than what you said would be someone defending femsub fanfic, despite it being extremely common and often having sexist overtones, and insisting that it can't actually be sexist or criticized for the tropes used because real life women sometimes choose to submit. This is essentially what you're doing here.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-27 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)Trans guys can fuck or not fuck in any way they want. They are not less guys for preferring PIV sex. But anon was talking about fancic and common tropes.
Woman isn't less of a woman or a feminist if she wears heavy make up. But people still can and should criticize how in media women look the same.
Yes, it's sus that a lot of authors make trans characters just to fuck some pussy. And maybe individual authors aren't bad or sexist etc and there is nothing wrong with a kink but people allowed to be wary and allowed to dislike the trope
