Hope this is the case. I'd hate to think of all those tents going to landfill. I hope there's a huge charge for pitches to offset the potential costs, anyway.

I can't speak to ages past, but this definitely puts you in the majority for... any music festival in the UK for at least 20 years.

My friends and I scored a basically new canvas bell tent from Wilderness (terrible festival, don't go), worth easily £400. It's done another 10 years of various festivals and camping since then.
