I mean, it's not about punishing the rich *for being rich*, it's about rich people who commit crimes and are then shielded from any punishment. I do agree that the mindset of just wanting to punish the rich for being rich is unhelpful, and helping the poor WOULD be helpful.

Exactly. It's about accountability. Rich people shouldn't be given slaps on the wrist, they shouldn't be allowed to buy their way out of consequences, and above all, they should pay their fair share of taxes.

Maybe a millionaire earned his money, but I have yet to see evidence of a billionaire who did.
