Hahaha, hard to say for a new player. It's a JRPG, made by folks who were also involved with the Xenosaga and Xenoblade series. At the time, it was known for its complex, heavy themes involving religion and philosophy. The translation wasn't the greatest but it was still a pretty wild story. Graphics are kind of ugly but 3D was becoming more popular at the time. The music is still amazing (Celtic style/Celtic-inspired). One thing most fans agree on is that they were not very impressed by the rushed job that turned 2/3 of the second disc (yeah, it had two discs) into a visual novel.

On replay, some folks found the high battle counter rate and repetitive gameplay tedious. Which I understand, but IMO was only really awful in a couple of dungeons, particularly where one could easy fall and have to climb their way back up. I would welcome a remake with the battles/encounter rate improved and the "second disc" fleshed out (I was always curious about the mass driver dungeon, after all).

Unfortunately, I am not sure the game is available outside of PS sources, if even there. It's possible you'll have to be a man! of the sea! particular about how you obtain the game if you want to play.
