I was today years old when I learned that the sex tape had 3 people and one was a minor. Yikes! I was pretty young when this happened and he rebounded about the time I reached adulthood but I was kinda aware plenty thought he should have been jailed and blacklisted. I always assumed they were just puritanical types.

If Lowe knew she was a minor and not just a young woman sitting in an over-twenty-one bar, I would agree. But there was no way he could have known she was underage. Expecting him to be a mind reader or demand to see her ID, which would likely be fake, in a bar that should have kept her out in the first place is unreasonable, weird, and unfair. It irritates me how all the onus was placed on him in that situation while that girl chose to present herself as an adult, which Lowe had no reason to disbelieve.

This. The girl in question was in a bar with her 22-year-old friend when Rob Lowe (24) met them that night. Now, if he treated either of the girls badly, of course that's on him, but to my knowledge that was never the issue; the issue was the one of the girls turned out to be 16. IMO it was entirely reasonable for him to assume that the girl sitting in the adult bar with her adult friend was an adult.

It's the same situation when after David Bowie died, they tried to smear him as a child predator because he slept with one of the biggest groupies who happened to be underage at the time. Someone who was always very intent on scoring celebrities, made herself appear older, carried a fake ID and has gone on record several times that it wasn't assault, she did it intentionally and she's pretty proud of her track record, actually.
