A 60 year old fighter pilot? of course it was T.Cruise's fantasy.

Not saying that the Top Gun movies are all that realistic or anything, but there's no upper age limit once you're a Navy fighter pilot (there is one to start the training). Theoretically, you can be one as long as you can meet the physical requirements, stay on top of the training, and don't rank out. The movie was filmed in 2018 and early 2019 (the release was delayed by COVID and other things), so he was 56, which is only a few years less, but I'm thinking the difference would actually matter if he was actually a fighter pilot.
