Rare pair shipping is always pain. There really only is being a multi shipper if possible, or creating your own fanworks. ;0;

I've been fairly lucky in ships. And my current OTP, while minor, still has plenty of fics. Not regular new ones, but plenty to enjoy. And plenty I enjoy rereading.

I'm the opposite of this, lol. No fic or established fanons exist for my rarepair? Nice. I can establish my own, and everyone else can follow.

It's fun to get people into the rarepairs I ship because they liked the headcanon dynamics I established, then that becomes the generally accepted fanon

+100

When I ship rarepairs, most people into them are just happy to have more content. I don't get my fellow shippers getting up in my face to tell me I'm Doing Fandom Wrong for not conforming to the most popular fanon and headcanons.

I've been reasonably fortunate to have several OTPs with large fandoms and tons of content. But in some ways that made it all the more brutal when I finally ended up with a couple of OTPs with very little content created for them. My brain just straight up didn't know how to handle it. I felt like I was glitching for so long.

So yeah, I totally feel you. The pain of falling hard for a rare pair is too real.

I hope you manage to get into a juggernaut ship one day, anon, and swim in the sea of fics like Scrooge Mcduck swimming in his fortune.

Man I know what you mean. Like I try to be the change I want to see in the world but sometimes I want to read fic I did not write for my rare pairs...

I have gone a couple lines at a time just running fics in other languages through google translate, too.

I'm always stuck in rare pair hell, so I understand your pain. I have fandoms where I'm the only one who has written fic for the ships I want.
queenslayerbee: Isabelle Adjany as Lucy Harker in 1979's "Nosferatu the Vampire". She's surrounded by darkness, looking over her shoulder while she wears a white nightgown and a cross as a necklace. A hand with long nails like a claw is reaching for her neck from the darkness behind her. (Default)

They very few times I've lucked out on a big ship it just so happened that I reaaaaaally didn't care for the established fanon takes on them so err. Worst of both worlds for me lol.
