I am uncomfortably reminded of the bad old days when online assholes would try to justify their bad behavior by claiming to have Asperger's. We don't need to go back to that.

Those bad old days haven't ended. It's only a couple of months ago that I read a length rant by an autistic person about how they, and other neurodivergent people, should not feel under any obligation to treat neurotypical people well. If an NT person tells an ND one that they've been hurt by something the ND person has done or said, then the NT person is being selfish and ableist, and contributing to the oppression of ND people. It's the duty of NT people to control their emotions and learn how to not be hurt by the behavior of ND people.

Do you happen to have a link to that? Not for brigading purposes, I just want to read it for myself.

I'll see if I can find it again!

I bet it was on tumblr. Like the illustrated guide on how to walk on eggshells around people with BPD because if you’re not constantly paying attention to and validating them then they’ll think you hate them and will be justified in lashing out at you. There’s a very strong thread of “the only people responsible for their own behavior are the ones interacting with me” running through some corners of that site.
