So funny story

My friend and I discuss the canon thing a lot. She is verrry rigid canon person. If they fuck with her OTP (break them up, pair one of them with someone else, etc) it completely ruins things for her. If they take the plot in a "bad" direction or try and change a backstory, it fucks with her enjoyment. She is neurotypical.

I on the other hand say fuck canon I do what I want. I pick and choose what I like and I run with it. If they introduce something cool I add it to my headcanon, if they introduce something I hate, I ignore it. If they pair up someone I ship with someone I don't, idgaf because I just write it away. I am neurodivergent.

Its just funny how we (friend and I) talk about this all the time and sometimes we do wonder if my being ND has an effect in how I fan, but here you are ND saying you do the opposite but kind of with the same reasons. People are interesting.

I'm neurotypical and how rigid/loose I am when it comes to canon depends entirely on the canon. Some things I want to stick very closely to canon because I like the canon! With other things, there are parts I love but other parts I'm not really wild about, so I'm all about doing what I want with those canons.

It absolutely is not a neurotypical/neurodivergent thing.
