..but you want to read fic where your OTP is horny for each other. I was with you until that bit because then isn't this fulfilling that?

I imagine ace fic is hard to write just because the spectrum is so broad. I can see how that could be frustrating as reader. (I am ace but I tend to avoid any topics that are too close to home so I don't read ace fic.)

As an ace writer I often wind up writing characters as at least somewhere in the demi zone, but if it's not going to have a real bearing on the story, then yeah, I don't tag it as Ace (Character).

I like using fic to explore ace/allo relationships, to be fair-- yeah, a lot of times that means the ace character is sex positive or at least sex neutral, but like... sometimes I want the smut! I just also want the allo character to FIRST say that sex isn't make-or-break and it's okay to never have it.

The problem is that I never know what I'm getting until I'm waist deep into the fic. Sometimes the character that's tagged as ace is just straight up horny for the other character, and despite the weird tagging choice, I'm personally pleased about that because it's what I want to read. Other times the ace character is interested in having sex and seems like they're attracted, and it's juuust horny enough to be satisfying. Other times it's approximately the same deal but it's not quite horny enough to be satisfying. And still other times the character is fine with having sex but has no real interest in it whatsoever. And I just never know what it's going to be until I read the fic.

I wish I could just filter for fics where the character is tagged as allo, or where he's just not tagged as ace, but the majority of fics for this pairing have the character tagged as ace, so I'm basically just trying them one at a time. *shrug*
