PCT anon here. I’m doing a backpacking layout because I’ve gotten a lot of new gear recently. I’m off for a section hike in a week and the last of my new gear is due this weekend. I need to weigh everything and add it to lighterpack, then start organizing everything.

I wish I could get a new tent and backpack before I go but even if I had a random spare $1200, there isn’t enough time. So I’m taking my heavy Osprey Kyte and my random Chinese brand $80 tent from Amazon. I absolutely love both things, they’re just very heavy.

If you have REI in the area keep checking their "garage sale" section - something might pop up last minute! I got an ultralight one person tent from there for $150 that normally sells for over $400! I've also gotten lucky with some daypack deals.

Thank you for the reminder! I g through spurts of just totally forgetting to even check that section.

My parents are gifting me the money for the new tent and backpack in a couple months so I’ll get them then. I have my heart set on a LiteAF 46l and a Z Packs duplex. Hopefully I can get them in time to do a week on the PCT this year but if not I’ll have them for next year. And in a few years I’ll be doing the whole trail with them :D

I was just looking at the LightAF packs! I loved the rainbow one Miranda (Miranda Goes Outside) had in one of her videos.

The rainbow oil swirl pack is so gorgeous! I’m doing either plain blue or the cool oil slick. The rainbow just isn’t quite me, it’s more like I want it to be me. But that was the same bag I saw that made me want one! They’re just gorgeous! And I like them better than the ULA Circuits, partly because of how customizable they are.
