I didn't get Drarry until I got bored during the pandemic and decided to read some. Then it made complete sense to me. The biggest thing that shifted my perspective was the realization that the majority of Drarry fanfic is set post-series. Opening up the timeline and allowing the characters to grow and become adults and grapple with complex adult realities makes the entire ship so much more impactful and interesting to me than just trying to shoehorn it into the original series timeline.

Not saying you have to get it. Not getting it is valid. Just saying, I didn't get it either, at all, and then I read some fic and was like, "Holy shit, why does this make so much sense??!"
