What is everyone doing this weekend?


I drove all day yesterday to visit my sister. Took today off work so we could go to Trader Joe's and an Asian food market. Got lots of delicious stuff to try. Tomorrow we are going to the Oddities and Curiosities Expo. Hopefully we find something interesting.

Sunday, I'll be driving home. Which is a longer drive than usual to avoid some towns effected by a recent tornado.

Aw I love this! I’m on the older side around here but I felt the same when I was a teen working with people my parents’ ages who shared my taste in music. They’d tell me all these great stories about the bands, albums, concerts, even about life in general at the time. I felt like I was seeing some secret thing my contemporaries couldn’t and to this day I feel like it helped me understand different backgrounds and viewpoints.

This is so weird to me. Kids have been participating in online fandom for at least the last 25 years or so but back then everyone claimed to be at least 18 and made a huge effort to act like they were, too. It was also normal to lie about details regardless of age and keep focus on fandom, not the personal. It’s so weird to me that children are just being children in fandom.

OP doesn't need to teach them anything. Their parents should have taught them that.

And never tell your age on the internet has never been a thing. I was a kid when the internet first came into households. I was taught not to reveal my name and where I lived, but I could certainly tell people I was a kid. That was normal. Of course, I was also taught not to go to adult websites or watch shows for adults only, and later learned that if I wanted to go to an adult website anyway I had to lie about my age.
