In fiction I don't care; it can be a nonissue or a source of conflict or whatever.

Irl it depends? If both people involved are consenting adults it's not my business, but someone who keeps dating 18-19 year olds and dumping them for a new teen as they get "too old" would freak me out more than a 60 year old who married an 18 year old one time, so it wasn't a pattern.

And then it could go south later, when the 38 year old might end up caring for an 80 year old with dementia.

But the 70 year old might lose their 28 year old spouse to cancer or a car accident, too.

Basically so long as they're adults and care for each other and view each other as equals I'm cool with it.
