Often, I think people think about their own life and/or think of when they'd lost someone who meant something to them, and want to do the respectful thing.

It's complicated IMO but if someone wants to dance on another person's grave I won't stop them (unless the I really respect the deceased and feel a need to defend them but my list is short).
