What do they do to the TARDIS?

They slapped the Hartnell era sticker back on it and updated the windows so that it - I presume - looks more historically accurate. It mostly looks like they gave the TARDIS an upgrade to be filmed in HD.

I'm not sure why the OP is so upset?

I mean, if they, like, made it look like something else or sommat, I could see getting riled up, but.. wow, it looks very very slightly different... O_O

I know, right?

It could also be about them changing the 'desktop theme' of the TARDIS, but no photographs have surfaced of this yet, as far as I know. But then the OP is getting their knickers in a bunch over something they haven't even seen yet, which is equally moronic.

And I'm not sure if it's a rumor or me making it up, but it's been speculated that they are going to make the inside more like it was in Classic Who.

Good. I liked the old stark-white, circles-in-the-walls design. I mean, I wasn't like, "They changed it, it sucks now!" about the new design (especially since it was different in the Whovie, as well, plus there were a few different control rooms with different designs, so...), but if they went back to the old one, I'd be happy.

I personally prefer the new design, the stark white was a bit too stark and drab.

How can you actually care that the tardis is just a tiny bit bluer? Apparently that's how it looked in classic who, anyway....

Okay, I am staring at that picture trying to figure it out. What have they done it?

I don't understand this. I mean to not watch a show for any reason is obviously your decision and your right, but the Tardis has usually changed a little bit with about every new Doctor. To not even watch the first episode of S5, because of this seems a little silly to me.

And BTW I'm not even super excited or happy about any of the changes, but I'm still giving it a chance.

I had to say this out loud in a hysterical voice and it was hilarious.

If you're complaining about the fact that it's made of plywood... well...

a) the TARDIS has always looked like it was constructed on the cheap, mainly because the whole show was
b) yeah, like they're going to hump round a real police box. Too heavy and far too goddamn expensive.

I was a bit disoriented at first by the colour, but it's being filmed in HD for the first time and that requires the props to be constructed so they look good in that format. Also: it's a prop. I know it's an iconic prop, but it's still a blue police box. What's the big?

I thought so too. But if you look at, e.g., the long shot from Family of Blood when the Family have captured the TARDIS and are taunting the Doctor with it, you see that it's been that size for some time.

So basically "They changed it now it sucks" and so it's now "Ruined Forever" then? Wow, what a picky fandom.

You'd think that the show has never changed anything ever in its entire history!

Yeah, it's why I avoid the Doctor Who fandom even though I love the show.
But what makes this secret especially funny is that it it sounds like they're changing the Tardis' appearance to make it look more like it originally did in the Old Who series.

Doctor Who's my main fandom, but, man, I need to take breaks from it every so often otherwise I think it'd make my brain break.

I heard the complaining about the TARDIS's new look waaay before I saw it, but when I finally did, I immediately fell in love, so I can't quite get the hate. Different strokes and all that, I guess.

They changed the TARDIS. I'm never watching any more of this show ever again. I don't even care about how that Patrick Troughton fellow took over, that's not what's bothering me, it's how the TARDIS changed.

I'll be sticking with my seasons one through three, thank you very much.
