They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but with this fandom that's become... rather difficult. Did you really think replying in that manner wouldn't irritate those of us who are sick of hearing about it? Or rather, I suppose that was likely the point, in which case it worked. 9_9

do you really think that those of us who aren't into other Shows of the Season (your icon very related) aren't tired of hearing about it?

more importantly, do you really expect anyone to care? We're just fangirling, like everyone else, and we have no obligation to 'hide our spazz away' or some shit simply because you don't happen to like the VN/show.

No, I don't think that. But contrary to popular belief, it's not necessary to press it on everyone you come across, or to harass the ones who aren't interested. You're definitely not going to see me posting the things I find "kickass" about the series I like in response to people saying they don't like them. The percentage of people driven away is much higher than those... I'm not sure what you'd call it, potentially converted, I guess.

Was hardly trying to convert anyone, it was simply my way of saying what the anon below me basically did. Especially if hir friend always went along with their fandoms to make them happy, would it kill them to take 20 fucking minutes out of their week to make their friend smile? Quite selfish, tbqfh.

Either way, don't like a show--don't watch it. Seems pretty obvious logic. After all, contrary to popular belief, no one is really forcing you to watch it--no, not even your friends.

I never get this. How fucking hard is it to just watch something with your friend and enjoy the company, even if you're meh on the show itself? She's done it for you; put on your big girl panties and give up twenty minutes of your life once a week to make him/her happy.

I'm gonna have to agree with anon, here :/ If it were just a matter of you not caring for the show and being harassed, it'd be a different story. We all like what we like, and it isn't always the same thing. But as you've done the same thing to your friend in the past, the least you can do is humor them and try to find something enjoyable about the experience. You don't have to act like some big freaky fan about it, but be a friend.

At the very least, if you hate this series so much and couldn't stand the thought of dealing with it, tell your friend that you're really not interested and apologize for all the crap you've done to them, so that maybe you both can start off with a clean slate as far as these things are concerned.

Well said. I do this all the time, even with shows I don't think I'll like. It's not some incredible sacrifice we're talking about here.

It's too bad that you can't tell your friend this directly, anon. I like Umineko, but I get that it's a really niche show/vn and isn't everyone's cup of tea. Yeesh, it's hardly anyone's, imo. Doesn't exactly appeal to a very broad audience, if you know what I mean.

Maybe you could tell your friend gently that it isn't to your liking, and you two can find a show that you both enjoy equally, instead of one dragging the other in kicking and screaming?

I think it's a great show myself but I've always been a fan of horror/mystery stuff.
