Thing is, the way the comm is now is the way it should have been since day one.

I couldn't get in after this last purge and honestly i'm kinda over it, they just seem extremely paranoid and it's getting unnecesary. I agree it should be moderated etc but the things you have to do to get in just seem too much. Like doing an entry? What's the point of that, i'm mostly a lurker i don't do entries, etc so i didn't get in. I've been in the comm since day 1 and this is what happens. Idk i just don't see the point really.

Ok, well if you honestly believe there's a better way for us to be doing something, why don't you suggest it rather than just bitching about it anonymously. I really am interested in hearing constructive and possibly positive criticism, but it's difficult to respect you or your perspective when you present something like this. No one complained about the standards, which were up two days before the purge, yet no one complained about them. I think discussing it then would have been a better way of handling this than posting a "secret" about it here. If you would like to discuss this further I'm more than happy to here your perspective/suggestions over a PM, or even directly at the community. But I don't appreciate you disrespecting me so brazenly when I've done nothing to earn it. It only serves to reaffirm my stance as far as the community goes.

The same can be said to whoever the OP is. I think I'm a fairly reasonable person, and if you disagree so passionately, then I have no problem with you creating your own community or actually just discussing your concerns. And let's not act like there weren't reasons to be paranoid to begin with. There should have been some standards from the beginning and it had gotten far beyond control. At the point where I'm being contacted by Lily and Kat's friends about whacked out things happening in the community, it's time to change the community.

I just want to say that while I don't know anything about this particular situation, RPF comm lockdowns are a sad necessity imx and I'm sure you're just doing what's necessary to protect your fandom. I've seen crazy trolls in my sport RPF fandom do stupid, squicky things, try to drag the real celebrities into their grudgewanks, anything to ruin other people's fun, and the safety of both the celebs and the active members has to come above the lurkers' wants. So GJ, and if the lurkers are butthurt about it they can just invest enough effort to not lurk, goddamnit, how hard can it be?

Too much? all they asked for people to be less of a leech and active instead, to minimize the shit that had been going on in the last couple of months. It is a community after all.

No, I disagree with this. I actually thought they were being TOO nice, they were giving people plenty of time to friend others and basically be active on LJ, WHY? anyone can do that! But anyway, they weren't being paranoid, aside from certain BFNs of the fandom, other people were being attacked by the trolls, people who barely even commented on the community. It was getting way out of hand and I believe none of this would have ever happened if the comm had been this way since day 1.
