I knew someone in college that said she came to college with a specific goal in mind of finding a mentor. She went around and spent time with various professors until she found one that clicked.

And of course we used to hang out with all ages too. Now I feel like if you said a professor or teacher was holding parties or get togethers where students are invited you'd get accused of grooming. Which is dumb.

Yep. And all of these intergenerational friendships were absolutely non-sexual. You would never even think that unless you were a massive weirdo. Like definitely it was odd for me and my friends to be hanging out with older people but no one ever thought the older people were grooming us or anything, because they weren't.

Not even getting into all the out-of-school clubs and events in my teenaged years, I went to so many dinners and parties at my professors' houses in college, even went to a couple of thanksgiving dinners at random alumni houses who were hosting. Like, being relegated to your own age-mates sounds incredible dull and stunting.
