Sorry I do not have answer to your question but I am amused.
Just yesterday was talking on the phone with a friend and she was playfully attacked by a crow while we were talking. Just bumped her head with a wing and was following her around the street. And there was another crow just sitting nearby and watching this show. We are still bewildered

They probably had a nest nearby. When the intruder is big enough that attacking it outright won't work, crows tend to try and distract intruders away from the location of the nest.

Yeah, that was my guess too.
I was screamed at by sparrow today because I stopped to look at it's chick in a tree :D
That must be stressful for the bird since this tree grows just near road crossing
