What are you procrastinating?

I have to do yard work but it is miserable hot out and the area I need to work in is full of bees. I dont want to interupt their pollen gathering so I'm using that as an excuse to sit inside and put the whole thing off for a wee bit longer.

my goddamn fan project I promised to have done already. Well, I still have time but I am REALLY dicking around and just playing video games instead.

I've written a very long meta with about fifteen supporting gifs. I only need to make two more gifs and it will be ready to post. It's been like this for three weeks now.

Deffo put off the yard work off! Most of the planet is blanketed in a dangerous heatwave and temps are only going to rise for the next week even in the southern hemisphere :(

Well I went back to it and I am being PUNISHED for it. I stumbked into some poison ivy and then forgot and rubbed my eyes. I came right in and washed my hands, rinsed by eyes out, and took a shower so hopefully nothing comes of it. I am not super reactive to poison ivy but I have gotten it once or twice so fingers crossed.

Having dinner. I'm really not that hungry right now but if I put it off much longer I'll end up going to bed on a full stomach and regrets.

Ugh I hate that. I dont always feel hunger, but I know if I put it off I will get a headache and other dumb consequences. But sometimes its hard to motivate yourself to make a meal when the hunger isn't there.

Everything. I need to clean, I need to do laundry. But I have a nasty sinus infection, and it was all I could do to make it through work.

On a smaller scale: I really want to paint again but I can't bring myself to do it, same with writing (which I haven't done in years but have a little insistent plot bunny nagging me right now).

Weekend Plans!

What is everyone doing this weekend?

Visiting my sister with my niblings so we can watch the WWE PPV. Going to be 100+ degrees this weekend so won't be doing much outside.

Its supposed to get pretty hot here as well. I think the last forescast said high 90s.

I have family visiting! Just a quick stop for one night on their way through town but I like hosting and don't get to do it often so it should be fun

I’m working on a quilt project on my embroidery machine. It’s a pretty simple quilted wall hanging and I’m happy with my work so far. I’ve made half hearted attempts before but this year I resolved to learn so I can give a quilt to my stepmom for Christmas. But now she has cancer and started chemo this week so I’m trying to make her a chemo quilt before her next treatment in a few weeks. Chemo quilts are sized differently and should be just big enough to cover ankles to chin and be tucked under the seated body without a lot of excess material. They shouldn’t be so big that they ever touch the floor. And they need to be made well enough to withstand repeated laundering, too.
…no pressure though *.*

Accompanying my niece to some school sponsored sporting event. Each kid is supposed to do various challenges together with a parent. My sister dislikes most other parents in my niece's class though, so the choice was me volunteering or my niece having to miss this event.

I'm not looking forward to this either, but my niece loves doing this sort of thing so, whatever. She already misses out on some activities due to her parents being divorced and her dad being a self-absorbed asshat. And now my sister is being a self-absorbed asshat as well, gah.

Going out to dinner with my parents for Father’s Day. I bought him a card, but I need to remember to sign it. Otherwise, sleeping a lot, daydreaming, reading fanfic, maybe some video gaming. Counting down the days until my annual beach vacation.

Bittersweet musings

I'm a little fucking drunk. I'm hiccoughing. Whatever.

I am about to leave this place. This beautiful fucking place. Surrounded by woods. A view of the mountains, just a quick jaunt down the driveway. Small farms. Rolling fields. A babbling brook. I have loved being here, so much, more than I expected I would. I don't want to go.

And yet, the winds of fortune are taking me elsewhere. There will be great things, in the new place. I know it. There are woods there, as well, and a quiet neighborhood. Friends will be close by.

But I suspect I'll always mourn what we're giving up. I suspect that, many years from now, I'll reminisce about this place, about this land, and wonder what it would have taken to stay.

I too left a place I loved, when I was young. No choice in the matter. It hurts, I know.
