I'm still very much a Green Day fan, despite some of my friends criticizing me for it. "They're too mainstream now!" "They're sellouts!"

Does it make me shallow if I don't even care that these accusations might be true? I'm just in love with Billie's voice... I never understood why you can't judge music on its own merits instead of stereotyping by the band itself.

I saw 'em live at Madison Square Garden on July 27th and it was fuckin' AWESOME.

I used to be all "OMG GREEN DAY IS SO COOL" before American Idiot (read: since 1994 and until 2000-whenever-that-was) and then I became a closeted fan of them. I dunno why now, and I'm right back to thoroughly enjoying the shit out of them.

I think they're brilliant.

There was a period where it became 'cool' to not like them or something? But that stuck all these years later and even with the release of the new album, which is fucking awesome on all fronts, it's almost impossible to get anyone to listen to them.

It pisses me off how few people recognize talent when they see it (or hear it, in this case), and how few people realize how political a lot of their material is.

Also I have a friend who thinks his voice is annoying, yet she listens to Julia Nunes. Does not compute.
