Not obscure enough for my tastes. If I see one more oh-so-original fic that puts another work's characters in a Battle Royale setting, especially if it's strictly copy-paste, I'm gonna scream.

It's really all about execution, when you get down to it -- although I think a thoughtful exploration of the seemingly flimsy political setting might be nice for a change.

I always cry over it in the movie too but way, way more so in the book. I might look up that video, Only Time is such a beautiful, sad song on its own; teamed with that scene I can only imagine the effect.

The manga was completely godawful in every respect imo :x

That death was completely contrived and theatrical but you also have to remember this is Battle fucking Royale. I still thought it was a great scene for the movie.

I loved Chigusa's part of the movie, but, yeah, the book is better and it was Shinji Mimura's death in the book that really did for me. ;____;
