I've never seen a BRITS OUT!, or the same fuss over Ameripicking(?) as over Britpicking. So maybe Americans are more tolerant, or more secure in their hegemony, or don't have an inferiority complex over no longer being an Empire, or don't care about their own culture, or whatever.

Seriously though, it is interesting that the GTFO seems mostly one-sided.

I admit I have done some Ameripicking (that ? is right on, there); reading Dean Winchester or Buffy Summers say "ring" when referring to a phone call raises my hackles slightly. :) Even so, I just politely point out that "ring" isn't something an American would say; it's an in-character/out-of-character thing.

"Whilst" is my personal pet peeve. But it's probably best to think of it as an in-/out-of-character thing rather than the second American Revolutionary War.

Better Ameripicking than Yankpicking, which I've also seen. I am American; I am not a Yank, and I have met people who would punch you for calling them that.

HA. I'm a baseball fan, so I automatically associate 'Yank' with the New York Yankees. To me, that's just unforgivable.

Unfortunately, not a lot of people outside the states realize that in America, our usage of 'Yank' came out of the Civil War to differentiate between the two sides (as far as I know) and refers to someone from the Northeast and people from the South would not appreciate being called Yanks (which I assume you are?).
