It's advised by a lot of people that we do so, just to avoid the baggage that comes with being an American abroad. I could never get away with that though. As far as I know, not a lot of Hispanics up there. XD

Well see you don't have to be an American, you can be the child of diplomats from Hispanic Country Of Choice who went to a lot of American schools.

Personally, I'm from Washington DC. I plan to claim not to be American by virtue of the fact that I have no voting congressional representation and therefor cannot be held responsible for this mess.

I always thought that was one of the more stupid things our nation has done. Really, you won't let the people VOTE even though they live at the CAPITOL? It makes no sense. OT, but for some reason, I always wished we stuck with 'Federal City' for DC. IDK why, it just sounds good.

Actually, Washington, the District of Columbia is basically the same thing as "Federal City" but with more fanfare. It's just "[First President], District of [Archaic Name for America]." Though I do think calling the city Washington is stupid, since there's a state called that. The District of Columbia really does just mean the district of a name America was given for a while before the South American drug capital took it. :P

Have you ever been here? It really is a damn shame how much here has been allowed to just go to waste because no one is taking care of it. The school system is regarded as one of the top 10 worst in the country -- a few years ago, I remember reading an article in our local paper about how 40% of the graduating senior class of the largest high school in my part of the city tested as functionally illiterate. And the boys at Walter Reed (the army base/hospital for wounded vets) love to observe how the streets in DC are worse than the streets in Baghdad.
