Sometimes, when I'm reading fic, the things that happen in the fic will give me such a sense of dread and despondency for the characters, that I cannot finish it, no matter how well it's written. And it doesn't matter that it's likely to turn out well in the end. It's okay not keep indulging in something that makes you feel badly. That's a good form of self-care, recognizing that it's a catalyst and stopping.

I get this, OP. Inside is absolutely designed to get under your skin and mess with your perception of reality and pluck at your sense of self-awareness in odd and unnerving ways. That's what makes it so good, and so unique, but it's also entirely understandable that it can be extremely unsettling for people.

That Funny Feeling is such a beautiful song, but I don't listen to it very often because it makes me feel almost grief-stricken listening to it.

Not that I want to lure you back in

Ultimately its good that you stop doing something that makes you sad. But....

Have you heard some of the covers out there? Well, Well Look Who's Insde Again by Kat Ramage and Goodbye (Possible Ending Song) by &Isabel are two of my favorites.

I took it as a pretty harsh comedic meditation on being a performer, focusing on the pressure and constant self examination it entails. It can be a rough watch if you can relate to some aspect of that situation. It's also funny, but I definitely can see why it would be upsetting. Anyway, taking a break is a good idea if you're getting upset when watching/listening.

Who knew a thing about isolation made during a global pandemic where we were all supposed to be quarantining would make you feel sad????????

Ugh

I had to watch it over multiple days as well. It was incredibly effective.

Although I still listen to the songs, I don't think I could watch it again either. It really got to me when I first watched it and I can see why it touched everyone the way it did after 2020.
