Apples are all so bland now! I remember apples being so crisp and sweet or tart and all having strong distinct flavors. Now I keep buying different types hoping to find one that even comes close.

ayrt Fuji are my fave of the modern apple flavors.

I remember absolutely loving Macintosh and Granny Smith growing up but both seem kind of off now.

Pink ladies are nice too. Apples are better if you can get them at a farmers' market; they tend to be less waxed.

Honey Crisp apples are the only kind I ever buy these days (except for baking with). Big ones, though. Honey Crisps are weird in that if you get them when they're too small, they're meh. It's actually when they get big and start to dimple a little bit that they're at their best, IMO.
