Started a tiktok to share fic recs

(Anonymous) 2024-07-01 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Started with a large but dying fandom. Did a post for the biggest pairing, darker stories of the biggest pairing, gen and rare pairs, the second largest pairing (that is problematic by tiktok standards prob), and one with the MOST problematic ships in this fandom (including incest). The last two are the most popular vids by far.

The tiktokkers children yearn for the kink mines.

No, the algorithm promotes the things most likely to be controversial and result in more clicks and engagement.

No, the algorithm promotes the videos most likely to get engagement based on what users watching the same type of content have liked, watched, shared, etc in the past. In practice, that often means controversial videos, but that's because the users themselves have made those videos popular, not because the algorithm is specifically searching for and singling out controversy.
