I am the same with art supplies. I've gotten more strict about using the supplies I have before getting new ones on a whim, so that I don't clutter. It's good to be aware of buying things because you wish you were the kind of person who liked it as a trait of yours, it's really common among people who struggle with cluttering/hoarding/shopping issues... It's perfectly fine to collect aspirationally in moderation, it can inspire you to try new things and is harmless to have a few things you don't use much. But it can sure be a problem when it gets out of hand!

yup, I have a wee bit of hoarder tendencies so I limit myself to "containers." As soon as my "art drawer" is full I am not allowed to buy anything else untip I use or toss something I already have.

I dream of having a big ol farmhouse with barns and sheds, but honestly it would probably be awful because there is just that much more room to fill .
