I had an interview last week for an extended contract at my current job (2 years, higher pay), and my boss just asked me today with a very knowing smile if I'd heard anything yet.

I don't want to get my hopes up but that smile made me think HE knows more than I do. I haven't heard anything and I don't want to get my hopes up but I wanted second opinions from people who aren't my coworkers. What do you think, F!S?

I should clarify that this is my boss's boss, the one who would need to approve of the contract/position before the results go back upstairs for further approval.

100 degrees where I am and the power for the whole town is off. They said it is going to take a couple of hours to get it back on.

Let's see. I had to file a 1700 page case in court this morning. And then I had to go back to the office and write page numbers on another 1700 pages so I could send the packet to the government (it was either that or print off a whole other copy and hole punch that copy and put it together, would have taken longer). Then I had to carry the big box with the file to my car, which was parked in the back of the parking lot.

I'm still in pain from dental work that went wrong and on painkillers. Now my back is killing me too.

Also, it is 101 degrees F here. And my car got up to 112. I got so hot I started feeling light-headed. Ended up eating a turkey sandwich for dinner because I didn't want anything hot. And while I'd really like a heating pad on my jaw, I'm still too overheated to do that.

I can't wait for the 4th, though. 2.5 hours at a cat cafe.

Today was rough. Just been in a real funk this week. Been almost exactly 4 months since I lost my Dad and it still keeps hitting me really hard some days. Sometimes it almost feels like he's just "gone away" for a while and he'll be back soon, so when I remember that I'll never get to talk to him or hug him again for the rest of my life my head just can't deal with it. Idk I'm spinning a bit this week.

Meh. Day is going stupid, heavy day period, couldn't make the dinner I wanted because the packaging wasn't properly sealed (I didn't see it before buying it), tired and my wrists ache, and I'm procrastinating on something due in 3 days.

So-so.

Up side: on vacation and it's been so nice to do whatever I want and with such comfort, I didn't get super lost while outside today, got to use my new hair wrap (excited to see what the results will be tomorrow!), food I got today were all tasty

Down side: my ankles are super sore, I sweat up a storm every time I'm outside, my eczema is still making my skin itch and why does not scratching have to be vital to getting rid of this thing??

OK except I had to do a lot of cleaning up in my apt w/arthritis in both legs so I'm tired and I'm stressed out because my best friend got all pissed off at me about a week and a half ago w/o explaining what I did

Tired and stressed. It's month end and quarter end, another team at work is being bitchy, my trainee is slow (not his fault, he's learning), I'm having trouble sleeping, and soon it's going to get up to the 100s for days.

But we had our house deep cleaned for the first time today, which takes a load off. My wife was very iffy on getting cleaners in (she's embarrassed by letting cleaners into a not-clean house, which I feel defeats the purpose) but she was so happy after they were done so hopefully this will become a regular thing. I'll take the win.

Pretty good! I reached the peak of anxiety mountain and I'm now in the "what will be will be" kind of free falling mindset.

My vacation starts tomorrow and coworkers were all in a great mood and work flew by, so that's all good.

Just gotta survive the long drive tomorrow and then I can relax for a few days.

Kinda good, kinda tough. I’m pet sitting for multiple neighbors this week plus have my own pets. I built tons of extra time into my schedule so everyone would get plenty of my time plus there was room on the clock if things didn’t go according to plan. Everything went flawlessly! Plus I got to spend pretty much the whole day giving and getting loves <3

But I also had some other stuff not go as well. My vacation next week might not happen after already being delayed three weeks. And I have been trying to make a chemo quilt for my stepmom (she’s actually my dad’s girlfriend and I use the terms interchangeably and can’t recall what I’ve used here in the past). But quilting is HARD! I had to restart several times because the blocks weren’t coming out right. Now I have that sorted, I’m making the blocks and starting to see the rows together. I knew it wouldn’t be perfect but damn I’m spending ages lining the blocks up perfectly and they come out all wonky. And the ones in the middle kinda pull in on themselves once they have a block on either side. I think I need to give up. With more time I could give her a sweet gift that isn’t perfect. But she’s had two of five treatments already and I just don’t think I can do it. And that is really hard for me to accept.

And I misfired this the first time :(

I went out with my mom this morning to run a few errands and wound up buying quite a few items, including a lovely dark teal blue wool jacket that was on sale for half off.

I was whining A LOT right now but decided against it.
Anyway. Had a job interview for a part time job. And now I am conflicted. I really hoped that this part time thing would be an office job, because I need to get out from home for my mental health and I am so not do in it if I WFH. Especially since I do freelance on top. Also I hoped that payment would be 15% or so better, it's not unreasonable

Yes, totally! With books and with TV series. "I'm just not ready for this to be over yet," I think, sometimes.

Yup. I devoured a fic over the course of three days or so, and I wasn't paying attention to how close to the end I was and finished it last night. I woke up this morning and was like, "I can read more of the fic!" and then remembered I had finished it and got so sad.

I often do this with TV shows that I’m very into. I think I don’t want to be let down by the official ending. I want an open-ended potential that I can more easily speculate about.

I have actually never finished more than one video game because I didn't want it to end. Oddly, both were ship-based: Suikoden IV and AssCreed Black Flag. I usually only never finish things because I disliked them and noped out, those were the only exceptions.
