I mean, its a show that was made for adult humor. Of course that doesn't mean every adult is going to find it funny - but you can't be that surprised that there are adults who do find the show funny.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-04 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Was it made for adult humor though?

(Anonymous) 2024-07-04 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It certainly didn't debut on Nickelodeon, if that's what you're asking.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-05 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Do you think teenage or ya media is only on nickelodeon?

(Anonymous) 2024-07-05 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
No, but adult humor tends to not air on television before 10 PM, which South Park did not at its debut.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-05 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Not the anon above - but is that the law in America for adult entertainment? Here in the UK you can't show anything that's not 'family friendly' before 6pm on broadcast television.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-04 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends entirely on what you think 90s Comedy Central's target audience was suppose to be.

Teenage boys

(Anonymous) 2024-07-05 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
More like stoned college students, but there’s an overlap.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-05 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It literally says on wikipedia that it's an adults entertainment channel.

Yes there are teen boys do watch South Park. I was a little girl when I first watched South Park. The show was still made for an adult audience. The creators of the show can't control who watch their stuff any more than your typical tv CEO who would love to have that kind of power.

What 14 year old think is adult, maybe. There is nothing as juvenile as adult comedy.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-05 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Adult" humor.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-04 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
On that note, I need to set aside a day to rewatch the South Park movie followed up with binge watching Beavis and Butthead episodes.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-04 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
As an adult who still enjoys South Park*, I don't think the 13-15 year olds and I are always laughing at the same things.

It's not a perfect show, but for me it's a solid mix of intelligence and absurdity. Not all their social commentary takes are great (though some are) and I don't care for the crudeness, but I have even less patience for people that can't see past it.

*full disclosure: I don't know the more recent series (20-ish onwards) so well

Say, you know how when you don't like a show, you can just... not watch it or devote any thought to it at all?

Try doing that, but with other people's show preferences.

Stop having fun!

(Anonymous) 2024-07-05 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
You're not doing it right!

^ Is this truly the kind of grown-up you want to be? Somone who thinks they should be able to decide how others should enjoy stuff? Really?

MTE

OP: Some people are just so immature!
Also OP: Stop consuming media I don't personally approve of, it's so lame!

(Anonymous) 2024-07-05 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I just think it's too political. Stop making everything political. Typical Gen X libertarians forcing their politics down our throats.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-05 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
And they keep proclaiming that it's not political, "it's just the truth". I was tired of it with the edgelord classmates of mine when I was 17, I have even less patience for it now as an adult.

some of it is absolute bullshit.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-05 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
One of my brothers is in his mid 30s and it's a pain in the ass to interact with him. He has this condescending air about how he voices his opinions, he always wants to talk about politics but gets really pissed off if you call out any gaps in his POV or simply disagree with him, quick to leap to crazy assumptions, intercuts into conversations, cannot read the room when he's making people uncomfortable. Says he's not libertarian, still buys into neoliberism.
And still gets excited to catch new South Park episodes.

I just...IDK
I worry about my brother but at the same time my patience is tough to deal with when I interact with him.

Not to say South Park is outright awful. It's just...I grew out of that sort of humor and the political stuff can be tedious. There are just other better things to do/watch than South Park.
Some people don't outgrow it and that's their right, but I agree with secret OP in that I don't get why some people don't outgrow this show.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-05 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
We don't all grow up to be boring ass adults who's only joy in life is telling kids to get off of their lawn.
