My mom's talked before about how she's always amused when she watches a show from the '50s or '60s and sees the mom always going around the house in a nice dress every day. My mom was born in the mid 1950s and her mom worked outside the home and constantly wore slacks around the house. About the only time my mom could ever remember her dressing up was if they were going to some family event or church or something of that sort that was fancy and dressy. She's always like, "I don't know what 1950s/1960s world those people were living in, but it wasn't mine!"

Lol my mom was born in early 50s and lived in a farm. All the girls wore trousers. But in school and church it wasn't allowed, only dresses.

But in my dads family all the girls (and adult women) only wore dresses and skirts, because they were more "proper" aka they were not farm people and came from money.
