This sounds very victim-blamey. Do you understand that not every guy presents as a loser upfront? Many guys try to put their best foot forward... for a while. It might take time for the mask to slip or for them to decide that they're in a relationship, so time to stop putting effort into being that sweet guy their girlfriend thought she was dating. That's why the vetting process is long and painful.

Sure, sometimes you are indeed surrounded by assholes. But when someone is making these types of statements with zero self-reflection, and with no curiosity about the common denominator in these situations... IMO they start to lose credibility.

nayrt but yeah, I bet you're right. I'm ace and not interested in dating at all, but I hear stories from female friends about the dating app adventures and yikes. The anecdotes range from funny to downright scary, when men get angry and threatening because they don't get what they want. Makes me glad I'm happy as a single person.
