Re: What does the word "centrist" mean to you?

Sure, it's class-based, but the underlying assumption of the leftist position ultimately boils down to the belief that we can solve our problems by just placing power in the hands of the correct class.

The underlying assumption of the liberal position is that anyone, from any class can be an absolute dick once given power, but that you can hedge against this by building an infrastructure around a certain set of liberties.

Sure, if that's what you believe? I'm not here to argue for or against either example position, just giving an example of why leftist and liberal aren't the same thing for the anon that started this subthread.

Wait, this is just about what we believe, not about what a particular political ideology means? Okay, then. Leftists think that society should be based about traditional marriage between a man and a woman, and liberals think that society should be organized according to the 10 commandments.

Huh? I have no idea what you're on about now.

Apparently my intended point got across in the original comment, so I did what I intended to do. You can keep going with whatever you're doing here if you want, but I don't have much else to say to you.

You said liberalism and leftism is what you believe it is, not ideologies with actual definitions.

No, AYRT didn't. You just strawmanned the hell out of their argument and then flailed around when they didn't fight with you over it. But what they were actually trying to do was provide a helpful definition to someone else, so whether you think leftism is crazy or not is a you-thing, to them.
