I've been lucky to have been into fandoms that are fairly active despite a lack of anything from the main source, or weirdly fandoms that I did not expect to be as active as they are now despite finishing some time ago (mostly referring to Death Note and Naruto here - still getting the good memes and fanart from both of them).

That being said - I haven't really been into 'big & new' fandoms for a very long time, which seems to often fall victim to the sudden rise and fall of fandoms at a neck breaking speed. Not to mention the more intense drama in fandoms is a little more scary and certainly adds to the fall of these kinds of fandoms.
Yes there has always been drama in places like LJ and Deviantart, but if they had been as bad as the most recent kinds of fandoms, I probably would have been done with fandom once and for all.
