Sporkings weren’t honest, though. They were a way to gatekeep while punching down on teenagers and anyone who wasn’t a native English speaker and anyone with a learning disability. Sometimes they were about taking a shot at a rival. But mainly they were about punching down on the most vulnerable of the community.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious this was the case (whether or not that was specifically their intent to do so) to anyone who looks back at it as an adult.

Implying that this is what everyone still really thinks and would still say, if only it were socially acceptable, says more about the person who believes that than the people who recognize it for what it was.

Yeah, it does. But that’s not surprising because they’ve just outted themselves upthread as the troll that led to all the frozen threads the other day.

Is it the razor thing or the mom thing? I actually don't know what either is referencing, literally just thought the boomer mom thing was a hilarious anti-edgy response.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-30 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha the boomer mom thing is cracking me up, too!
It’s the razor thing. That anon posted it as a same anon reply to themselves, then cried victim. That was…two? weeks ago. Then two days ago they did this “poor me” thing claiming they were being sexually assaulted and told to kill themselves. It was insane, even for them.
You can always tell when they same anon because they’re unable to change their writing style enough to sound like a different person. And like me, they write more than one or two sentences most comments so it’s really easy to pick them out of the crowd.

Oh I caught some of the sexual... RP? Thing? But that sounded like a different anon to me. Like maybe an ESL anon was the one complaining about it?

I don't wanna fall into the "all anons are the same person" trap though and feel bad spamming the secret OPs thread with this so gonna just go back to being happily oblivious

The Rippy the Razor thing was not a self reply, not that you'll believe that. Someone definitely took things too far about wanting another anon gone from this earth.

Eh, I don't really think so. A lot of the fics that I remember being sporked were written by adults and that was a large part of why they were being sporked in the first place - because people expect that sort of writing/behavior from teenagers and are more willing to give them a pass. But when an adult behaves like a child, people tend to point and laugh.

Sure, but to me it's just being an asshole to someone over their hobby, like making fun of the kid who can't run fast but loves track, or someone whose knitting is fugly.

I have no issue with making fun of entitled jackass fic writers and artists, like r/hobbydrama sorts of stuff, but if the quality is poor, it's still someone's hobby that they shared. Just ignore the bad shit.

And yet you have no problem stalking someone online and making their life a misery.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-31 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
What the fuck is going on in this thread. Who's the wanker? I don't have context for any of this.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-31 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah. If someone puts their work out in public, then others are allowed to have opinions on it, good or bad.

If you have the right mindset about it, it can be motivating. The most critical comment I ever received is also the one I credit with helping me grow the most (and, to be clear, the person was not kind about it; they were trying to insult me. But some workable critiques were mixed in with the jabs).

(Anonymous) 2024-07-31 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
They can have all the opinions they want, they're still POS; and often ignorant, so their 'critique' is useless anyway.
