I can't think of anything constructive to add, which is unfortunate, aside from a Death Gate Cycle secret?! Awesooooome. Drat it all, Secret Poster: I've got several other books to get through, but you're making me want to re-re-re-read the series!

You too? Seriously, I could have written this secret (though I don't actually keep this a secret, haha)! Except that I don't think he looks like that picture, but nevermind that.

I even had a friend to swoon with - sometimes we'd just look at each other and say "his quiet smile" and grin. XD

... What is this? I do love me some funky tattoo'd manly men, I do.

The Death Gate Cycle is a series of seven books by (forgive me if I typo their names) Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. I find I don't much care for the fantasy genre, but these books are an absolute exception and I heartily recommend them if you're looking for a good read! The characters are great, the worlds are well developed, the magic makes sense, no unpronouncable names full of apostrophies, and the obligatory dwarven society work with machines that sound right out of a Dr. Seuss book :D (well, an opressive Dr. Seuss book, but). Good stuff!

If you do decide to pick them up (because everything

missmorrichan says is right and you totally should), just know that the first one is a bit of a hard slog. It picks up towards the end, and the rest of the series is fabulous, but don't be put off if the first one doesn't grab you straight away.

Then again, that could have just been fourteen year old me not quite getting it, and no one else has had a problem, but I thought I'd mention it, just in case. :)

It's been so long since I read the books, I liked Haplo then.. I dunno what I'd feel about him now.

The Deathgate Cycle is one of my all time favorite book series.

I was so happy to see this secret, I think my face is frozen in a smile, OP. I actually own all the books and I've read the entire series like 3 times, it's so good. I wasn't even born when these books came out. Death Gate Cycle secret FTW!

Joining in the Death Gate Cycle love. Even thinking about it now, Fire Sea (and to a lesser extent, Serpent Mage), were some of the most amazing fantasy novels I ever read.

Sadly, I've only ever played the game, but I crushed on Haplo too.

Does anyone know where I could get my hands on the books? I've been looking all over, but no luck.
