My guess is employers googling your name, like they do, and stumbling onto your smutfic, pr0n arts, or even just heated/vulgar discussions on a normal fan-forum. It's something that can be seen as very unprofessional, especially if it turns up with only a simple search (lack of discretion), even if it's reasonably tame by fandom standards. Fandom in general freaks mundies a bit, it it doesn't downright squick 'em.

At best, if employers or coworkers found your fandom life, it would either be awkward, or result in annoying, merciless teasing (you know, the kind when someone who's never even seen an anime tries to make a joke about it?).

Me, I'm worried about a different host of things, but my ideal job doesn't involve an office, so...*shrug*

....I agree with the teasing thing. Because, imagine . . . not being in fandom and someone being like, "I write stories based off fictional characters! For fun!"

Fandom is a crazy-intense love . . . I guess? And a lot of people do not get it. At all.
