ffffuuuuuck.

(well, I use a different email for fandom stuff and important school/work related stuff, so... maybe I'm okay... but...)

WTF, hell, I don't think I'd want to be hired by a company that anal.

What sucks about it is that hiring is usually done by senior management, and senior management is often withered old dudes. So even if the people you'd be working with entry-level are really cool and don't think normal involvement in fandom is weird, the old guy who makes the decisions doesn't necessarily get it. I just use my real name and email on facebook and a couple safe hobby forums, and maintain entirely different SNs and emails for fandom. So with any luck, they see the safe, normal me, and don't spend another fifteen minutes trying to find not-normal me. That's about the most you can do. The other stuff is still trackable if someone's determined, but very few will go to the trouble of looking. (And that's definitely somewhere I don't want to work ;p)

Or, alternatively, you could get a cool job that doesn't involve suits or conservative old dudes in management. Sometimes I wish I could just herd goats and be all out and proud with my weirdness.

Yeah... I'd like to believe my choice of career won't have anyone in the higher-ups that would give a damn.

But. Should probaby keep RL and fandom separate, anyway. :/

(...actually, I DID get hired once by someone who was really into fandom herself and she was totally cool with my involvement, of course. But she was 30 at the time, so there you go.)
