I just looked up a synopsis and it's about a guy who cross-dresses to get a job as a teacher because it was only being offered to female applicants and he needed the money.

And there's a student who develops feelings for the cross-dressing teacher, which are returned, but said teacher acknowledges how inappropriate that is, which isn't grooming, but is definitely skirting the line and has 0 to do with the fact that he cross-dresses (apparently he moves away when his cover is blown and he's fired, partly because of that).

I'm not sure where you're getting twitter transphobia from, because there's no transpeople in it.

It's a Hot For Teacher story with a heavy Sweet Polly Oliver plotline.

I’m not the same person who accused OP of transphobia, and I think that accusation was in bad faith, but “he’s not trans, he’s just a crossdresser” is a weak argument considering transphobes think all trans women are “just crossdressers.”

No it's not a weak argument when it is, indeed, factual. It's irrelevant if transphobes think trans women are crossdressers- in this case, the character is not trans and is indeed a crossdresser and that means the OP isn't automatically transphobic.
