I love colors. I do not want a beige black and white house. Boring! But some color combos do set my brain on fire in not a good way, it can just be too chaotic. It really depends on the color combos and how they are used.

That being said, I do find a lot of stores really overwhelming on my senses. SO MANY different colors and lights and sounds and people. So it's not jut about there being color at all, it's how it's just there in an overwhelming way sometimes.
